Happy Birthday, Grandmother!

We celebrated my grandmother's 87th birthday while she was in town this weekend. Her real birthday is next week. Who knows? Caroline might share it with her. Abby checks out the candles.
Abby likes to pile everything on her bed or her little table in the den.

Abby was a good hostess. She showed Grandmother every book and toy she owns. The minute she saw she had a visitor, she began dragging it all out.

Her Bubba played house with her. He tickled her through the mailbox. She giggled uncontrollably.

"She wore an itsy bitsy, teeny weeny . . ."

. . .blue bikini. Summer has arrived and Abby loves her backyard. She sits at her picnic table to blow bubbles. Hard at work in her sandbox

"Are my bubbles in here?"

Abby is all girl. She loves wearing hats, sunglasses and her favorite, the pink bracelet. She wears it from sun up to sun down.

"Just one second. Let me get my sunglasses back on."

"Ahoy Mate!"

"I think I can have some serious fun in this pool.""O.K. I have my hat, sunglasses, sunscreen and pelican pitcher. And of course I have my pink bracelet. Now, where is Mommy?""Mommy, hurry up!"

I was applying my own sunscreen. It was quite a process to get outside the first time we swam in Abby's pool. And yes, I got in the baby pool. It is way too hot to not get wet.

Field Day

I took Abby up to Field Day at Nonnie's school last week. She loved riding around in her little car with her sunglasses on. She wore them about 30 minutes and never touched them. It was hilarious.
Abby was serious in her sunglasses.

Chuck E. Cheese's

Brent and I wanted to take Abby somewhere new this weekend, so we decided to check out Chuck E. Cheese's. Abby was so enthralled with how many rides and games there were. At first, she didn't know what to do and just stood in amazement. Then, once she figured out she could ride the cars she was off and she never stopped! She didn't eat there and Brent and I took turns eating while the other one of us chased her from ride to ride. It was fun! We were both wiped out! Hickory dickory dock . . .
. . .Abby went up the clock!

Abby and Barney- She calls him B.

We got to meet the Big Cheese himself!

Happy Birthday Daddy!

We had a fun weekend celebrating Brent's birthday and Mother's Day. We had a family birthday party Saturday night. Abby had fun blowing out the candles.
"Are these presents for me?"

Abby loves playing in the icechest. She delivers cubes of ice to people with a cup.

Need help dusting?

If you do, Abby is the toddler who can get the job done. She followed me around the other day and dusted everything I did.
"Mommy, what's next?"

"Look What I Can Do!"

"I started eating with a spoon and I'm pretty good at it." Abby was very motivated to use a spoon when I put the big bowl of her favorite, Mac and Cheese, on her tray.
She did a pretty good job of loading up the spoon and getting every bite in her mouth. When it got down to a few noodles, she decided to use the old fingers. Who can blame her? They are hard to get on the spoon.

Tea Parties

While political tea parties have been going on around the nation, Abby has been having some of her own right here. Tea party is one of her favorite things to play. She walks around passing out cups to everyone who is home saying, "tea! tea!." Then she makes a little pouring noise while she pours everyone a cup. If you have a cup, you better drink up. She checks to make sure you are participating.
