Critter Country, Toon Town and Other Characters

Abby and Caroline had a lot of fun filling their autograph books with signatures of all their favorite characters.  I was surprised at their willingness to walk right up to the characters.  They were on a mission!
We saw Tigger and Pooh in Critter Country.  Piglet and Eor were having lunch.

We were eating dinner one night in Critter Country when the huge pirate ship sailed past our table.
In Toon Town, we saw Mickey and played in his house.

We also got to go through Minnie's house.

 Playing on Donald's Boat

The last day, we saw White Rabbit and the Queen of Hearts.  The girls liked the rabbit, but were really scared of the Queen.
We visited Tinkerbelle and her friend, Silver Mist, in Pixie Hollow.

The Cars Characters were rolling in California Adventureland.  I was so glad we watched most of the Disney movies the two months before our trip.  The characters would not have been very exciting to the girls had we not.  Our library had most of the classics and they became excited every week to see which movie we could check out.

Mickey's Soundsational Parade

Our first evening in the park, we watched Mickey's Soundsational Parade.  We were all a little tired after a big day and it was very relaxing to sit and wait for the parade to begin.  Nonnie read a Guide to Disneyland that suggested taking a picnic blanket. We sat by It's a Small World and had a nice spot to camp out.  The girls played with their new characters while we waited.

The parade itself was so exciting and fun to watch.  The music and dancers were entertaining and the floats were really elaborate.

 It's Mickey!

 The Genie and Aladdin

Donald was having a fiesta on his float.

The girls waved, pointed and yelled out who they saw every time a new float came in to our view.  But, when they spotted the princess float, they both started screaming out the princess names over and over.

 Lion King Float

Ariel waved right at Caroline and Abby.  They were thrilled.

 Tiana had her own float.
 Tink and Peter Pan
Mary Poppins rode by on her carousel horse.
She was accompanied by a huge float and the chimney sweepers.

We liked the parade so much, we watched it again on Main Street the last night.

After the parade, Nonnie and Pops stayed to watch a Lincoln show and met us back at the hotel.
The girls were too tired to stay in the park for the fireworks, but we had a perfect view from our hotel room window.  Every night we lined up chairs and watched the show to music that was on a special TV channel.
