The Stockyards

We didn't make it to the Fort Worth Rodeo this year, but last weekend we enjoyed walking around the Fort Worth Stockyards.  We saw the cattle drive, rode ponies, shopped and ate dinner at Cattlemen's.  The weather was really nice and it was a fun Saturday afternoon.

We all enjoyed the country band as we walked around.

Pops, Abby and Caroline were interested in the mechanical bull ride.  Abby almost rode it.  She just couldn't decide if it was too scary.
Little Bubba was in town.  We were glad to have him with us!

This cowboy let the kids pet his horse.

Abby rode Samson and Caroline rode Sparky.

Little Bubba bought some new boots and the girls picked out a stuffed horse and hedgehog.  We got our Fort Worth fix and Nonnie and Pops are taking the girls to the Bay City Rodeo in March.  I think we all enjoyed mixing things up this year.

January Snaphots

January passed us by so quickly!  I blinked and I was behind two months on posts.  The girls thought these giant Star Wars mannequins were neat at Game Stop.  We had fun trading in some Wii games  with Little Bubba.
We enjoyed our new city park in January.  Once again, the weather was gorgeous.

Abby and Caroline can't get enough of the zip line.

They enjoyed a skating party for a dance friend one afternoon.

One weekend while Brent was hunting, Pops took us to see the new Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.  We laughed until our stomachs hurt.  Nonnie was helping Little Bubba move to Duluth that weekend.  The girls were sad to see him go and this outing was a fun distraction.
After the movie, we went for slushes.

Caroline had a fantastic pajama day at school.
We went to the roller skating rink again for more practice one Saturday.
We helped Nonnie celebrate her birthday!  Pops did a good job picking out the delicious bundt cake.

Nonnie and Pops took Abby and Caroline to see the Fort Worth symphony perform Peter and the Wolf one Sunday afternoon at our church. The kids got to experiment with different instruments before the show.

We enjoyed our outdoor space thanks to the mild weather and the outdoor heater Little Bubba gave us for Christmas.
GiGi and PawPaw came to visit the last weekend in January.  They took the girls for pizza and games at CiCi's while Brent and I did some shopping at the mall and had dinner out.

Sunday, Brent grilled some burgers and the girls made sand art bottles Abby had saved since her birthday.

They also had a Connect Four marathon.

Monday, before GiGi and PawPaw headed home, Caroline had a donut date and they took Abby lunch at school.  Our January fun was a great way to start 2016!
