Last Stop: Matagorda Beach

After Seabrook, we stayed at Momo's one night and then moved on to a condo at Matagorda Beach with Nonnie, Pops, Little Bubba and Momo.

 Jumping the Waves

Abby and Caroline squealed with delight while digging in the wet sand.  They got their giggle boxes turned over and could not quit laughing.  The were yelling, "muddy, mud! muddy, mud!" while throwing wet sand everywhere.

 Snacks and Sandcastles

Abby's habit of changing clothes all the time followed us to the beach.  She switched into playclothes and sat in this chair for awhile watching the waves.  Then . . .

. . . it was back to the swimsuit.  I guess she decided this bucket of water would do instead of the ocean.
 Walking on the Shore

The girls gathered seashells.  They ended up with quite a collection.
The next day, we took a walk out on the long, long pier.
Then, the rain started and did not stop.  The girls did some coloring, games, painting and read lots of books in the condo.
Abby is interested in workbooks with "activities."
The rain stopped for just a bit.  It was long enough for Nonnie, Pops and Little Bubba to take the girls for one last playtime on the beach.  The weather did not look like it was going to let up the rest of the day, so Brent and I decided to pack up and head back to Southlake.  We drove through some of the worst storms we'd ever been through.  It was a long trip back, but we made it!  Although two of our stops were cut short, we enjoyed our get away.

Next Stop: Seabrook

Our next stop was to visit the de Leon family.  Brent was in the corps with Stevan and his family lives on a canal in Seabrook.  We started out with a fun boat ride to dinner in Kemah.  Abby and Caroline loved the boat and Paige! Unfortunately, we headed out earlier than planned the next day, due to Brent not feeling well.  We think he might have eaten a bad oyster.
Brent's other corps buddy, Milam, and his wife and little boy also came.  It was great to see friends, even though our time was cut short.

First Stop: Spring

July 4th, we headed out for a six day roadtrip.  Our first stop was Spring to visit GiGi, PawPaw, Aunt Haley and Uncle Phil. We were very busy with fishing, fireworks and lots of swimming.
GiGi found Aunt Haley's collection of Beanie Babies.  This was heaven for Caroline.  She carried at least three around with her at all times.
GiGi got "brown popsicles" (fudgesicles) for a treat.

The girls found these binoculars and were watching the ducks across the street.

Aunt Haley's old dance costumes were also found with the Beanies.  Abby had GiGi put them all on her.  The yellow was her favorite.  As you can see by her expression, she quickly decided the red and black one was itchy.

Firework Time

The girls liked waiting in their new Minnie lawn chairs.

Rain or shine, we always need to get in a little fishing in Spring.

As always, the girls caught one after another.  Abby now reels them in herself with just a little help.

We were off to the pool several times a day!

Caroline swims like a little swan with her arms back and hands flipped up.
