Happy Birthday, GiGi and PawPaw!

Last weekend, we headed to Spring for our annual February birthday celebration trip.  Caroline was so happy we had the class penguin for the weekend.
We introduced him to Buc-ee on the way.
We checked Abby out of school early and arrived by dinner time.  We tried a fun new Mexican restaurant.  The neon sign didn't show up very good in this pic, but it looks like the Las Vegas sign.  When we drove up, Caroline yelled, "Look! We are eating at Vegas!"
It had a big playground the girls enjoyed.

Abby and Caroline exchanged Valentine gifts with Carter Saturday morning when he arrived.

GiGi had Twister.
"Look, Tacky, a gecko and  . . .
 . . .ducks!"
Caroline was dying to catch a fish for her penguin to eat.  PawPaw found some good worms in the flowerbeds and we were off to fish.

Thankfully, they caught one!  In fact, they caught quite a few.

The cousins were wiped out after playing outside most of the day.  They were sweet watching a cartoon together before bed.

February Snapshots

Wow! We flew through February with lots of sickness, but managed to mix in some fun!  These first few pics were actually from the last weekend in January.  GiGi and PawPaw came to visit and we started the weekend with dinner at Pie Five.

It was a chilly rainy weekend, so we had fun inside with the Baby Alive doll and some Wii games.
Saturday night, GiGi and PawPaw babysat while Brent and I went to Ski Plano.  They recognized Pops, as his retirement was official.  It was a nice evening.  I got a pic of Ryan and his date and Pops, but not one of all of us.

We were ready to get in Valentine mode that first week of February.
Making Valentine Cards
Caroline thought the hot dogs at Lowes smelled so good one day, she had to have one.

Abby had a fun 100th day at school, but was not crazy about getting a pic in her 100 hat and sunglasses.
Caroline's second season of soccer class ended with another parent day and medal presentation.  I had fun on the field and we are taking a break this next season as we'll be gearing up for swim lessons soon.

She also had western day at Museum School this month.

She was proud of her cowgirl self portrait.
While Abby was battling a viral respiratory nightmare, Caroline attended two birthday parties for friends.
Elsa made an appearance at the princess tea party.

The other party was for a classmate at Paradise Pond.  She had a blast and has declared this is where she wants her own party in June.
Abby missed five days of school!  It was a long week and to pass the time one day we tried out Shrinky Dinks.  I loved them as a kid and guess what?  I still do!

It is amazing to watch them shrink.  We will definitely get some more of these.

Caroline had a great Valentine party at school.
Her favorite part was the ice cream sundae she built with cherries on top.

She really enjoys her friendship with Amelia.

The fun continued at home when she opened her Valentine cards from her friends.
Poor Abby missed her party and then we both spent Valentine's Day sick at home.  Daddy and Caroline surprised her with the American girl bathtub.  Caroline thought of the idea and Brent could not resist.

She also picked them out robes for their dolls.  Caroline broke it in while Abby continued to recover on the sofa.
Abby finally recovered after developing a sinus infection and getting some antibiotics.  She was proud to raise some money for Jump Rope for Heart.  These little ducks were part of the prize.

Caroline and I went up to the school and cheered for her the day she jumped.
The PE teacher made it a fun event with different stations so they didn't have to jump the whole time.  The scooters were her favorite.

After Jump Rope for Heart, Caroline and I stopped off at The Salt Cave. Another mom told us about it and the first visit is free.  You go in a "cave" and breathe in Himalayan salts which are supposed to help with congestion and clear your sinuses.  They had a kid cave we sat in for forty five minutes.  It was like a beach and Caroline had a lot of fun playing in the salts.
Salts were also pumped in the room through a vent.  We left breathing a little easier and covered in salt.

The Salt Cave did not prevent Caroline from coming down with the respiratory junk this past weekend.  We had to leave Spring earlier than planned Sunday morning and get her back to a doctor.  She has improved and, hopefully, we'll see some warmer weather soon and be free of this sickness!  Stay tuned for the Spring Pics.  They will be on the next post.
We finally had an ice day this week.  In fact, we had two days off school and a late start the third day.  It was not pretty or fun snow, just ice.
Luckily, GiGi gave the girls these flower pots to paint for Valentine's Day.  They were a perfect project for a snow day.

Caroline also had the class penguin, Tacky, for the week.  We had fun dressing him up and getting a pic of him sledding for her page in the class journal.
Pops being retired equals more fun for us!  Brent had to go back to Houston for work and, as the ice melted by the end of the second day, Nonnie and Pops picked us up for an ice cream outing and a Target run.

That evening, we checked out our new Trader Joe's.  The girls were given free bouquets of flowers.

Yesterday, we finally had some warmer temps and enjoyed a giant Jenga game outside.
Pops ate with Abby and a friend at school today.
Brent cut his trip short to get back and take Caroline to her Donuts with Dad.  She was pumped and when they headed out, it was starting to snow.
It was a Texas theme and they had a great time together.
Friday, Abby had Donuts with Dad.  Brent was a lucky man spending two mornings in a row with his girls!  Stay tuned for pics of the huge snow we got later this day!
