Seizing the Moment

Our excitement got the best of us when the Aggies beat the University of Northern Iowa and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen.  I've never seen Brent act on the spur of the moment like that in our twelve years of marriage.  He sprung into action getting airline tickets and hotel reservations while Ryan purchased basketball tickets.  Within two hours, we were set to head to California to cheer on the Aggies.
If you know me, this whirlwind stressed me out a little bit.  I am a planner and usually spend more than three days getting ready for a trip.  Once we were packed and on our way, I managed to relax and enjoy the trip.
Abby and Caroline absolutely love to fly.
We got there on Thursday afternoon and headed straight to California Adventure.  We enjoyed trying out a different hotel this time.  It had an entrance right into the park.

Thursday evening, Brent, Little Bubba and Pops went to the game while Nonnie and I enjoyed a nice dinner on a patio, a parade and some rides with the girls.

Friday and Saturday, we had fun on our favorite rides and tried out some new ones.

Caroline and Abby loved the Star Wars Tour ride this time because they have seen the old movies.

Indiana Jones was new for us.  It was quite a tense jeep ride.
We saw Walt's lamp in the Fire Station window.  Ever since we watched the anniversary special on TV, the girls have wanted to see it.

Abby and Caroline enjoyed swimming at the hotel.  It had two slides, but they were going too fast for me to snap a pic.
The roaring rapids got us pretty wet.

Nonnie and Pops took the girls on some tame rides while Brent, Ryan and I enjoyed our "big kid" rides.

Waiting for the Electric Light Parade

Caroline was thrilled to go through Jedi Training.  We got there early one morning to sign her up.

 She fought the 7th Sister.

Abby's biggest excitement was riding her first big rollercoaster, California Screamin'. She rode it twice and loved it.  The last evening Brent and Little Bubba took them for one last ride.  It was Goofy's Sky School, which was right outside our hotel window.
They are in the pic below.  I snapped it from our balcony.
Although the Aggies lost, we had a blast.  Disney never gets old.  It brings something new every time we visit.
