August Snapshots

I don't think we could have squeezed one more thing into our last month of summer!

The girls completed their reading hours at school again and earned free tickets to Six Flags.  We were not going to go because of the heat, but had rain and cooler temps one day.  It was very spur of the moment!

Caroline got an American Girl Baking cookbook from Lin for her birthday.  They have enjoyed picking out new recipes and being in charge in the kitchen.

They baked sweet treats for our trip to the beach.
Brent and I had a funeral to attend in Nacogdoches one Saturday.  Nonnie and Pops kept the girls.  We stopped on the way home in Dallas for dinner.  I snapped a pic of Brent and this huge bear to show the girls.  If you are ever in Dallas and looking for a place to eat, try Javier's!  It has delicious gourmet Mexican food and a really neat atmosphere.
The girls were kept busy playing basketball with Pops, . . .

 . . . a trip to Steel City Pops, . . .
  . . . a scavenger hunt, . . .
  . . . and dinner at Armend's.

We had fun at our tennis courts one evening in August.

We also celebrated National S'more's Day with leftover ingredients Nonnie had from the beach.

Last Day of Summer- We ate at Cheesecake Factory after Meet the Teacher.
Caroline's teacher had sunglasses for them at Meet the Teacher!  Caroline is ready for a "bright year in 2nd grade."
Nonnie got the game Clue and we have played almost every day for a couple of weeks.

Brent and I joined Nonnie and Pops at Bass Hall for a Lyle Lovett concert.  Samantha and Little Bubba had the girls over for a slumber party.

They took them to the new Crayola Factory in Frisco.  They had a blast!

Abby and Caroline picked out another recipe to try with Samantha.
The Elsemans also went to the concert.

The slumber party continued the next morning with scooter rides around the lake and brunch at Legacy West.

Dance started the same week school started.

The girls and I planned a surprise birthday celebration for Carter and Avery last weekend.

Avery reached for the flames and we all gasped and yelled "STOP!" As you can see, it scared her.
The crying did not last long!  We had a pinata to bust!

 It was a fun party!
My friend, who is a 4th grade teacher, sends me pics of Abby at recess.  Both girls are having a great year with friends.
I enjoyed volunteering for the teachers and  being able to take the girls lunch Friday.  We scored some cute Dragon bracelets in the Spirit Shop.

Yesterday, Nonnie, the girls and I kicked off September with a musical at Bass Hall. We all gave School of Rock a Thumbs Up! Brent started his season yesterday with a dove hunt.  It was a fun Saturday for all and we are excited for fall adventures!
