"I know it is wet, And the sun is not sunny . .

. . . But we can have lots of good fun that is funny!” The Cat in the Hat

The Andersons have been busy, but haven't had any big events to report, so I thought I'd try and get some pics to post during this rainy weekend. We ventured out in the rain Friday night for icecream at the Square.  Abby was beside herself to have a chance to wear her beloved raincoat and galoshes.  The girls wear them around the house daily (especially Caroline), but we have had such little rain, they never get to wear them out.
Caroline loves the rain boots, but will only put the raincoat on her head.  She can't stand any type of sweater, jacket, etc. .  Could be a long winter!
Abby and Caroline decided last night they are definitely asking Santa for umbrellas.  Mine were a little on the big side.

 Open wide!
We painted pumpkins and stuffed Abby's party favor bags for her upcoming birthday to pass some time inside.
Soccer was not canceled, but our team decided to forfeit.  No sense in three year olds playing in the rain.  That meant we had time for a family breakfast at IHOP!
Believe it or not, Caroline ate most of that food on her plate.
We did some Christmas shopping and played in the toy aisles at Academy before heading home to watch the Aggies beat Arkansas.  Whoop!!!
It is still raining hard so we're staying put, but we have big plans to get our popcorn machine popping tonight.  I am very disappointed Disney isn't releasing Cinderella until the middle of next week.  It would've been perfect for tonight.  The girls are requesting a Barney movie.  Ugh!  I am promoting Beauty and the Beast.  We'll see.

What's that Jingle?

It's PawPaw with bags full of change!  The girls emptied their piggy banks a few months ago and rolled coins so they could buy more Backyardigan people.  Abby wanted to roll coins again a few weeks ago and was disappointed when I reminded her she had no money in her bank.  She came to me an hour later and asked if she could call PawPaw and let him know about the empty banks. He was coming to visit soon and could help her out with this matter.  PawPaw has been known to supply the girls with coins for the banks and he did not let them down this time.
He didn't just bring some pocket change, he brought large bags full of coins.
The girls were very diligent filling up their pigs.

Fall Signs

You know it is fall in this house when the Aggie cheerleader uniforms come out and  . . .
. . .the white sandals are packed away.  The girls love to shoe shop.  Here they are trying on Mary Janes and black patent Sunday shoes, Abby's favorite.

We also know it is fall when we can have a picnic and play at the park without the girls faces turning bright red.

They've just been introduced to Twinkies and love them.
I don't know where Caroline got the idea, but she wanted to climb this tree.
Abby decided to give it her best shot too.

They didn't make it far, but had a ball trying.

The Wheels on the Bus

This is how our picture taking session on the first day of school started out.
Caroline was so excited to wear her backpack and couldn't wait to get to school.  Abby was ready to go to school, but wasn't going to have any part of the backpack or picture taking.

Once Abby saw how much fun Caroline was having, she indulged me with one sweet picture of them both.
I was very relieved after dropping them off.  Both girls walked right into their classroom and neither shed a tear.  I didn't have a chance to get emotional either, as I had an appliance repairman waiting on me at home.  They were all smiles when I picked them up.  I didn't get many details about their day, but Caroline did let me know several times, she sang "Wheels on the Bus" with her new friends.

Meet the Teacher

Friday we had Meet the Teacher at school.  Caroline and Abby couldn't wait to meet their teachers.  They were ready and waiting early that morning.
 Acting Silly
Caroline ran into her classroom.  She talked to her teachers, played and checked out the centers.  When we left, she gave both teachers a hug and bounced out.
Brent took Abby down to her class after she took a peek at Caroline's.  She was anxious and ready to get to her own room.   After Caroline and I joined them, she took one more walk around the room and declared she was ready to go.  We had met the teachers and she was on to the next thing-shoe shopping!  School starts this Thursday and we are all ready for our new routine!
