One Last Summer Get Away

The weekend before last, we made one last summer trip to Matagorda.  It has become a tradition to vacation there every summer with Nonnie's side of the family.  The first night we ate out and walked the long pier.
Nonnie and Pops get a condo at The Dunes for our family.  The girls love the pool.

We also spend time at the house on the river where the rest of our extended family stays.
Lots of games are played and we always enjoy some yummy seafood.
We caught many crabs this year.
Abby and Caroline had a blast at the beach.  We built sandcastles, jumped waves and Little Bubba bought them some butterfly kites.

Big Bubba and Little Bubba with Little Caroline

Big Bubba digs a big hole every year. It is funny because we all watch him and then different people get in it.  Simple activity, but everyone always has fun with "the big hole."

The beach is a fantastic place for kite flying.
You can even fly them sitting down!

I bet Caroline jumped a thousand waves this trip.  She kept saying, "I need to wash off" and that trip to wash off would always end with playing in the waves.
Taking a Rest
The last night we had a Low Country Boil and celebrated some birthdays.

Momo made sure all the people with summer birthdays had a cake.
Happy Birthday, Josh and Jake!
At sunset, we headed to the beach one last time for a fire and s'mores.  It was a fun way to wrap up our summer break!
