The Big Apple

Nonnie and Pops planned a trip for all of us to NewYork City at the end of November. The girls had never been and loved every bit of it!

I've never seen two people get more excited about flying.

Nonnie and Pops took us to John's Pizza the first night.

Times Square was next on the agenda.

 Riding the Subway

 One World Tower
It is so tall, I couldn't get the girls and the top all in one pic.  We did not go inside, but passed by on our way to Battery Park one morning.

On the Ferry Headed to The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island

 Ellis Island
Before the trip, we read some good books about the immigrants who came through Ellis Island.  It was neat to see it all first hand.
The girls thought the puzzle the immigrants had to complete for a mental exam was difficult.

 Reading Stories of Specific Immigrants

Annie Moore -The First Immigrant to Step Foot on Ellis Island- There is an awesome children's book about her!
We heard a choir singing Christmas carols as we walked around the street where the stock exchange is located.

 The Empire State Building

I went crazy taking pics of the Macy's windows.  They were so fun!

Going Up the Original Wooden Escalators in Macy's

Nonnie and Pops got tickets to The Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall.  It was amazing! We voted the show our favorite activity in NYC.

Nonnie and Pops took the girls to see sights one day while Brent and I toured the 9/ 11 museum and memorial.  They went on a tour through Central Park.

This is the bridge where Tom Hanks meets Meg Ryan in You've Got Mail.  We had fun watching many New York movies before the trip so the girls were excited to see this.

The Dakota Building, where Yoko Ono lives
 The windows of Bergdorf Goodman

The girls also visited The Plaza and The Public Library, where the original Winnie the Pooh characters are on display.

 Pizza Lunch after the Museum

 Ice cream at Rockefeller Plaza

Little Bubba and Samantha found out how to get professional pics taken there and we got some the next day.

 St. Patrick's Cathedral

Samantha's mom is from New York and still has friends there.  We were invited to eat Chinese take out at their brownstone.  Her Friend, Trisha, had chopsticks from China for the girls.

Samantha's actual birthday was that day and we had fun celebrating with cake.  I can't get this pic to rotate! Ugh!
Waiting to get in FAO Schwartz

Caroline ended up playing Heart and Soul with the man attending the giant piano at FAO Schwartz.  I felt like we were watching Big.

Learning New Magic Tricks

The girls wasted no time with the new magic kit!  They were performing for us at lunch.

We all love the movie Serendipity so that was a must on our list of places to go!  It was packed, but we got their signature dessert, Frozen Hot Chocolate.

Dylan's Candy- The World's Largest Candy Store

This is the wall where famous people and Hollywood stars put samples of their favorite candy in little boxes and sign their name.
Caroline's teacher suggested we stop by this famous macaroon place.  The only other location is in Paris.

We enjoyed dinner at Sardi's before seeing the Lion King our last night there.

The Lion King was the perfect ending to our trip.  Samantha managed to score some tickets before the trip for the GMA Day show.  She was ecstatic to be on the show with her mom and get a selfie with Michael Strahan before our flight home.
We arrived home to find our elves swinging in the backyard. It was an awesome start to the holiday season!
