The weekend before Christmas, we were supposed to go to the Matkin Christmas in East Texas. We had a change of plans when Caroline woke up with fever Saturday morning. Instead, we headed to Cooks where she tested positive for flu and strep. Abby tested negative, but was prescribed the same medicines as she had been exposed and was congested. The girls were real troopers during our Dr. visit.
We were all bummed to miss our Christmas with the Matkin side. The girls were especially disappointed not to go to Grandmother's and play with their second cousins. Nonnie sent some presents over that morning to cheer them up. They were excited to open something early. They opened some "liquid" sand. It is pretty neat and this pic shows their personalities so well. Abby rolled hers out smooth and Caroline squeezed and mashed hers.
I let them open their presents to each other that day also. They each went shopping to pick out their gifts the week before and had been asking every day when they could exchange.
A big hug followed their gift exchange.
Abby also made a bracelet for Caroline with her name on it. She was so proud!
The girls were so excited to get Sophia dolls and amulets from Grandmother. They opened these before going to Cooks, so Sophia got to go with us and the nurses thought the light up amulets were so cool.
Nonnie also sent these Ariel blankets to open and the girls spent the majority of the day snuggled up watching movies. Needless to say, we were concerned about our other upcoming Christmas plans with the rest of the family. I am happy to report we recovered and got to spend Christmas with everyone else. More to come on those festivities!
