We were Hawaii bound July 7th! Nonnie and Pops were excited to try taking everyone to Hawaii this year. Momo even joined us! It was her first time to visit the Hawaiian Islands.
The girls loved having all the shows and movies on this flight.
The girls wanted a lei immediately.
We all got a lei after meeting up with the person transferring us to our hotel.
We stayed at the Royal Hawaiian, also known as the Pink Hotel. It was a really neat, historic hotel. Momo had always wanted to stay there.
We had a beautiful view from our room.
Diamond Head
We were checking out the beach in no time!
The girls found the slide and we ate poolside the first evening.
The next morning, we were off to Pearl Harbor.
Little Bubba, Brent and I took the girls on a submarine tour.
We happened to come up from touring the bottom of the submarine right when the flag was being raised and the national anthem was being played. It was very touching.
We watched the short documentary and took the boat to the U.S.S. Arizona Memorial. The girls put flowers from our leis in the water. We read a children's chapter book about Pearl Harbor before the trip and this day was quite a history lesson for them.
The girls loved having Momo on this trip. You could always find one of them walking alongside her wheelchair.
Our tour guide took us through Honolulu on the way back to the hotel.
Dinner at House Without a Key
We loved walking around the hotel to take pics. It had many beautiful spots.
Another day, we rented convertibles and drove to The North Shore.
We stopped to shop and have shave ice at Motsumoto's.
We also ate the best shrimp I've ever had in my life from Giovanni's Shrimp truck. On the drive back, we stopped at the Dole Pineapple Plantation. Pineapple ice cream was enjoyed by all.
The girls had a blast on Waikiki Beach each afternoon. The waves were amazing.
We also ate at Duke's one evening, but I didn't get any pics.
This is the last morning at the Royal Hawaiian. We had breakfast by the beach.
Caroline lost a tooth at this destination!
Stay tuned for our next adventure, Maui!
