Egg Hunt: Take One

This past weekend was packed full of events!  GiGi and PawPaw were here to take part in all the craziness. The neighborhood Egg Hunt was first on the agenda.
Abby finally got enough courage to ride a pony.  This was a big deal!

Caroline will always jump at the chance to ride a pony.  She asks weekly, "when am I going to ride a horse?"

She also loves petting zoos and was especially excited to pet her favorite animal, a baby pig.

Abby shocked us twice in one night and decided to go in and pet a huge rabbit.
What is an Easter Egg Hunt without the egg hunt?
 Run, girls, run!

We got a kick out of the sack race.

They both won an egg trophy.  Caroline posed with her prize.  Abby was more reserved.

They also participated in the Egg on a Spoon Race.  The girls did it against each other and held the egg on their spoon while they ran.  It was funny.

 Waiting in Line

We ended the night with one last pony ride.  It was a fun Friday evening!

Random Spring Tidbits

Last weekend, our egg hunts were rained out, so we dyed eggs instead.
It was a fun rainy day activity.

Daddy got in on the action and dried our "shrinkies" for us.

Abby and Caroline had to use some patience.

 Our Finished Product
We also painted Rechenka's Eggs.  I always enjoy reading that book to the girls and thought it would be fun to paint some of our own eggs.

One evening this week, we went to the nursery to buy shrubs. We lost quite a few this winter.  The girls had fun on the cart.
We also had some painters in the house.  Abby and Caroline sat and watched them for quite a while.  At one point, Caroline started telling the painter "You are almost finished.  Keep going.  Good job."  He didn't say a word, but would smile at her every once in a while.  I don't think he was used to hearing these encouraging words as he worked.
The weather here is hot one day and freezing the next.  We had to bundle up for our Blast Ball game last week.  Caroline and her friend had fun with the cones.
Waiting to Bat
Abby played parachute games with the other siblings during the game.

She also cheered for her sister.  She was thrilled our neighbor gave us this Dragon cheerleader uniform.  My phone is cutting heads off, but you get the idea.

Abby and Caroline continue to learn lots at museum school.  They posed for me last week with a raccoon mask and an abstract painting of a cactus.
This is our "royal cow."  Little Bubba brought it from the Tillamook Cheese Factory in Oregon.  Caroline sleeps with it and takes it almost everywhere these days.  This cow always travels in her cheese house which  also doubles as a purse.

Time to dive back in!

Abby and Caroline just finished a four week swim lesson course.  We went every Monday and Wednesday.  They loved it and especially liked being in the same group.  May is such a busy month, we are taking a break and will pick it back up this summer.
They are tiny in these pics, but Caroline is the one in the pool floating on her back.
Caroline waves and waves to Nonnie and me.

This one is blurry, but I had to post it.  They always hold hands as they walk to the "hot pool" at the end of class.

Crawfish Boil

Kristin had gorgeous weather for her annual crawfish boil last Saturday.  The girls played a bit and then Nonnie and Pops picked them up so Brent and I could stay awhile without being on kid duty.  I got spoiled hanging out with Kristin and Tollie two weekends in a row.  It didn't cross my mind to get a pic of us, but I snapped a few of the girls.

Abby and Caroline looked at the crawfish, but the only ones they would hold were these cookies.

Our Little Slugger

We are all enjoying Caroline's Blast Ball season. Her personality shows on the field.  This week she tiptoed to the bases smiling and playing with her hair the whole way.

She enjoys the one on one skill practice with Daddy before the game.

 The first game was cold!
Caroline was excited to be the snack person.

This week was warmer! Abby was ready to cheer.

Last week, Pops got a video of her first turn at bat.  Priceless.
She likes to hit the ball, but she's not so sure about running to the bases.  A clip of the tiptoe and untuck from this week:
