I had my favorite Charlie Pride song ready to play as we hit the road for our spring break get away. We checked Abby out of school early on Friday and arrived in San Antonio that afternoon. The girls picked out ice cream sandwiches at our pit stop.
Abby and Caroline are little tourists. They love to get all the brochures in the hotel lobbies and look through them when we have down time in the room.
We stayed just down the street from Sea World and had these whale fins in the hotel lawn.
After checking into our room, we headed to the Alamo. Both Abby and Caroline just learned all about Texas symbols at school so this was a must on our list of things to do.
We walked through the Alamo and the grounds. Abby and Caroline popped in the middle of these Texans for a pic. Caroline jumped at the chance to hold his gun.
Then we were off to the river walk for a boat tour and dinner on the river.Abby and Caroline really listened to what the tour guide was telling us.
Caroline said she needed a "sitting up nap" on the boat. Friday was a great start to our trip and we all crashed early after a big day.
Unfortunately, Abby was not feeling well Saturday morning. After a quick trip to a clinic, which confirmed she had strep, Caroline and Brent went on to Fiesta Texas while Abby and I rested at the hotel. Caroline was very patient Saturday morning and was ready for some action!
We rode the train around the park and all the kiddie rides.
This little roller coaster was their favorite.
They were our pilots on this airplane ride.
Antibiotics really are amazing! Abby woke up ready for Sea World the next day.
We started off getting the lay of the land and seeing all the animal exhibits.
Alligators
Penguins
Flamingo Central and a Huge Tortoise
The Beluga Whale show was interesting and then we were off to Abby's favorite, . . .
. . .the rapid ride.
We got soaked!
After lunch, the girls had a blast in the Sesame Bay of Play.
We ended the morning with stuffed belugas and a quick swim at the hotel. They were excited it had a heated pool.
After an early dinner, we went back to Sea World for three shows. The Shamu show is absolutely amazing.
We needed cold treats while waiting for Azul. It was full of incredible acrobats, divers, dolphins and more beluga whales.
I did not take many pics of the shows. The last one was Shamu Lights Up the Night and it was our favorite. We all really enjoyed our day at Sea World.
Monday morning, we loaded up to head home.
Outside of San Antonio, we stopped for a 45 minute walking tour of Natural Bridge Caverns. It was a neat stop and a good way to end the trip. The Anderson family will definitely revisit San Antonio in the future. It is a fun city with lots to do!
